Evelyn Kidwell Bloomington- Evelyn Kidwell, 87, of 1026 Maple Hill Road, Bloomington, IL passed away peacefully at 5:25 am on Monday, December 21, 2009. She was born on April 27, 1922 in Bloomington, IL a daughter of Frank and Beryl Splawn Joho. She is survived by one daughter, Joy Kidwell of Bloomington, IL with whom she made her home; two sons, Lynn (Vicki) Kidwell and Mark (Susan) Kidwell, both of Bloomington; one grandson, Matthew Kidwell of Bloomington; two granddaughters, Kami (Phil) Spoehr of Deerfield and their children Alicia and Amanda; Nicki (Ken) Douros of South Barrington and their children, Michael, Daniel, and Samuel; one sister, Viola “Toots” Flum of Lake Forest, CA; and her four-legged friends Foley, Burnt, and Annie. She was preceded in death by her parents. Evelyn enjoyed many life-long friendships through her church, her work at Arnold Brothers Automotive, and her 32 years in the Comptroller’s Department at Illinois State University. She will be remembered for being a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed knitting, bowling, and collecting raccoon figurines and brooches. She was happiest when she was outside gardening. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington. Pastor Allen Steinbeck will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in East Twin Grove Cemetery in Bloomington. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church, of which Evelyn was a life-long member, or to the McLean County Humane Society.
