Jay C. Musick
Eureka-Jay Chris Musick, 80, of 408 E. Leo, Eureka passed away at 9:55 P.M. March 2, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the Eureka Presbyterian Church. Rev. Jeff Spence and Rev. Elise Rothfuse will officiate. Interment will be in Olio Township Cemetery, Eureka. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Eureka and for one hour prior to services on Wednesday at his church.
Mr. Musick was born February 9, 1927 at Beason a son of Ralph Owen and Velma Mary Robinson Musick. He married Joan Jones on March 20, 1949 at Toluca. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Stephen (and Dorothy) Musick, Morton, David (and Marilyn) Musick, Normal, Dennis (and Mary Musick) Secor; one daughter Melanie (and Jeff) Spence, Ft. Wayne,IN; one brother, Harris (and Betty) Musick, Lynchburg,VA; one sister, Vida Lathim, Riverside,CA; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Audrey; one grandson, Christopher Jay; and one nephew, Ralph.
Jay was a member of the Eureka Presbyterian Church where he served numerous church offices and positions including 35 years as a choir member. He was an independent area business man since 1946. He founded J&J Cleaners in 1958 and operated it for over 25 years. He served with the United States Navy during WW II aboard the USS Intrepid. He was a member of the Eureka American Legion, Bloomington Barber Shop Chorus and served as an Olio Township Trustee for 16 years.
