Moises da Silva Martins Roanoke -Moises da Silva Martins, 22, of Lynchburg, Virginia, formerly of Portugal, died Thursday March 13, 2008. Moises was born December 12, 1985 in Oeiras, Portugal the son of Manuel dos Santos and Maria Dulce Nunes da Silva Martins. Moises was a student at Liberty University where he loved helping and tutoring others, he was an avid basketball player, and active in the Word of Life, Portugal. He was also a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA. When Moises was not in attendance at Liberty University, he spent time with Holly Hodel and her parents, Herb and Susie Hodel and their family in Roanoke, IL. He was a close friend of Holly’’s and impacted many others in the surrounding community with his heart for the Lord. In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother Marcos da Silva Martins, both his grandmothers Maria Luisa Martins and Maria Emilia Nunes da Silva all of Portugal. The family will hold a burial service in Portugal at a later date. Memorial Services will be held at 8:30 pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Knapp- Johnson- Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. There will be a visitation held from 6-8 pm before the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Charity Fund to be used to assist the family with travel and final expenses.
